MCG built and sold our first home in 1987, the year I consider our beginning, while I was still working for my father as project manager of his home building company. I also worked weekends building smaller projects, sometimes bringing my sons, and now my daughters to work with me. Many of the families I worked for 23 years ago, are still our clients today and I am grateful for them and to all of you for your support, trust, and willingness to invite us into your homes and lives.
In those days my greatest challenge was getting people to trust me in spite of my youth. Some would come right out and ask me, “How old are you?” while others asked more roundabout questions. I laugh now but back then it was tough, yet many people did have confidence in me and hired us. We developed relationships, sometimes friendships that have spanned 23 years. I am exceedingly grateful for your trust, loyalty and faith in us. Thank you for sharing your dreams with us, dreams that encouraged our creativity and fueled our passion to build.
You have welcomed us into your homes and families and allowed me the pleasure of seeing many of your children grow from babies to college students, a few have joined us at MCG. Some of our more recent “friends” are new parents and we’re excited for you and appreciate your business, faith, and trust in our company.
I have always loved to build, to create sustainable homes that will outlast all of us. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to fulfill that dream. As I look back at the projects we have completed, what stands out most in my mind is not the wood or the cabinets, but the people we have worked with. Today’s challenges are different than when I started this company, people no longer ask how old I am. I guess there will always be some hurdle or other to get over, but I’ve discovered that it’s the people we meet along the way that make it worth the effort. So, from my heart, thank you for letting Mitchell Construction be a part of your dreams, homes …lives.
