Mitchell Completes Lead Law Certification
Mitchell Construction Group, Inc. has successfully completed the requirements for the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule set out by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to become a certified firm to conduct lead-based paint activities and/or renovations. In addition, three Mitchell Construction Group employees have successfully completed an 8 hour renovator training course offered by the Institute of Environmental Education (IEE).
Training consisted of a 6 hour in-class and 2 hour hands-on training on how to renovate safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with regulations. Certified renovators are responsible for ensuring overall compliance with the Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program’s requirements for lead-safe work practices. Renovator certification is valid for 5 years.
As of April 22, 2010 all firms and employees performing renovation work for compensation in pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities that will disturb more than 6 sq. ft. (interior) and 20 sq. ft. (exterior) of lead paint, or who are removing or modifying painted surfaces in the course of their work, will need to be certified by the EPA.

Process
The idea of remodeling can bring on a sense of excitement and of anxiety. To relieve you from the stress of going it alone, and to navigate all of the steps and facets of the project, we developed a thorough, proven process. It is a project delivery system that ensures success.
If you already have an architect, we have a customized process for you. Click here. If you want all of the services necessary for designing, remodeling, and building, please read on.
First, we provide you with both design and remodeling services under one roof. Our clients greatly prefer this, and we think you’ll agree, because our being your single source of accountability leads to better communication and better project management.
Together, we are a team. You’ll join our professional designers and builders as we develop buildable plans that address all of your needs and work with your budget. We assist you in making the selections that will work for you and your family, both functionally and aesthetically.
Your needs come first. We listen to your vision, review examples of styles you like and discuss the possible scope of your project. And we describe how we would approach your project. When you choose to proceed with us, we enter into a Design Agreement and begin the first phase of design.
The first phase of design is Preliminary Design. We further define the project scope, budget, and timeframe. Zoning or other requirements are addressed in order to comply with local agencies. You begin the product selection process, where the designer pulls together coordinated selections for the project and will bring the selections to you. We do visit showrooms with you if desired, but bringing selections to you can really streamline the selection process making it easier and more enjoyable. Conceptual sketches and floor plans are developed, as well.
The next phase is Design Development. Many of your design selections such as flooring, wall colors, appliances, and cabinetry are completed. We draft floor plans and elevations and further revise the budget based on quotes from subcontractors and the design selections. A work schedule is drafted based on your desired timeframe for the project. We present you with the design plans for your approval and we schedule your construction.
During the Construction Documents and Specifications phase, we finalize all the design elements of the project and develop the documents necessary for construction. At the completion of this phase you have final plans, a final budget and a final work schedule.
In the Pre-Build Preparations phase our Project Manager (PM) becomes the designated and dedicated manager of your project. The PM manages the construction, informs you of the construction process, and addresses any questions or concerns you have throughout the project.
